Lipnica Wielka (formerly Lipnica Niemiecka ) is a village in the Korzenna municipality in the Nowosądecki powiat of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland .
geography
The place is located on the Lipniczanka brook in the tributary of the Biała in the Rożnów Mountains . The neighboring towns are Bukowiec and Falkowa in the north, Brzana and Jankowa in the east, Niecew and Wojnarowa in the south and Jasienna and Korzenna in the west.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1336 as the then founded parish Nova Lipnicia . Later it was mentioned as Lipnicza (1413) and Llypnica (1420). 1451 appeared the addition of the name Maiori or Magna (1461) or Wielka (large) alternating with Theutonicalis (1463) or Niemieczka (1474) or Almanica (1525, German ). The name Lipnica, which is common in Poland, is derived from the stream of the same name ( in fluvio eiusdem nominis Lipnica , 1369; lipa - linden tree ). The adjective Niemiecka was used until the 19th century and was associated with the foundation under German law.
In 1359, King Casimir the Great founded the brick church of St. Mary. It was rebuilt in the second half of the 18th century.
Politically and administratively, the village belonged to the Kingdom of Poland (from 1569 in the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania ), Krakow Voivodeship , Sącz District.
During the first partition of Poland , Lipnica Wielka became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804).
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Lipnica Wielka came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .
From 1975 to 1998 Lipnica Wielka was part of the Nowy Sącz Voivodeship .
