Falkowa is a village in the Ciężkowice municipality in the Tarnowski powiat of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland .

history

The place was first mentioned in the year 1370 as Falkowa (a Transsumpt from 1498). The possessive name is derived from the personal name Falek (a short form of Falisław or Chwalisław). In 1416 a certain Michał was the Schulz von Falkowka , then in 1447 Wacław and in 1458 possibly Klosch .

Politically and administratively, the private village belonged to the Kingdom of Poland (from 1569 the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania ), Cracow Voivodeship , Czchów District (1461), Sącz District (1494), Biecz District (1581). In the 16th century it belonged to Wacław Przypkowski, an activist of the Polish Brothers .

During the first partition of Poland in 1772, Falkowa became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Falkowa came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

From 1975 to 1998 Falkowa belonged to the Tarnów Voivodeship .
