Wolf F. Wieland

Wolf Ferdinand Wieland (* 9. March 1948 in Obertraubling ) is a German urologist and gynecologist , emeritus university professor and former medical director.

Life

Wieland completed his Abitur in 1967 at the humanistic grammar school (Albrecht Altdorfer grammar school) in Regensburg and then studied human medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich (LMU).

He initially worked as a gynecologist at the Munich-Großhadern Clinic , but then switched to the field of urology at the clinic at the call of a well-known professor. In addition, he taught the subject, initially as a private lecturer and from 1992 as an adjunct professor at the LMU.

After completing his habilitation at LMU in 1984, he became chief physician at the Caritas Hospital St. Josef Regensburg , which has been cooperating with the University of Regensburg as an academic teaching hospital since 2003 . In conjunction with the cooperation agreement, Wieland was appointed Medical Director of the University's Clinic and Polyclinic for Urology and the newly established Department of Urology at the University. Wieland was previously in Regensburg since 1996 as an adjunct professor for teaching urology at the University of Regensburg.

He retired in September 2013. Wieland wrote over 400 publications and gave over 500 lectures. He contributed to the fact that, under his leadership, the St. Josef University Hospital produced the highest number of qualified urologists in Germany after the Großhadern Clinic in Munich and the Hanover Medical School .

Honors

On the occasion of his retirement, the Urology Clinic and Polyclinic at the Caritas Hospital St. Josef published the paperback How we became, what we are ... - Urology for Regensburg and Eastern Bavaria . In 2015 the city of Regensburg awarded him the Albertus Magnus Medal .
