Wolf Kroeger

Wolf Kroeger (* 27. May 1941 in Germany ) is a German-born, mostly in Canada active art director .

Live and act

Kroeger came from East Germany and came to Australia shortly after the end of the war . There he was trained and began his career in television. The Bavarian State Opera then brought him in as a set designer for two seasons . Based in Canada since the early 1970s, Kroeger worked as a production designer for television and film. Towards the end of the same decade, Kroeger also worked regularly in US films, but most of them were shot in Canada and Europe, and occasionally in Asia and Africa. He became known in the industry at the beginning of the 80s with film decorations for various productions by Robert Altman .

For Altman's comic adaptation Popeye , Wolf Kroeger built in Anchor Bay on the Maltese southwest coast "within seven months of 1979 an enchanted, crooked, wooden harbor village ensemble, called 'Sweethaven', which after the end of filming in June 1980 under the sign ' Popeye Village 'should become a popular tourist destination. ”Kroeger designed other important film structures for productions Michael Ciminos ( In the Year of the Dragon , The Sicilian ) and Brian De Palmas ( The Damned of War ).
