Wolf Meyer-Christian (lawyer)
Wolf Meyer-Christian (until 1931 Wolf-Christian Meyer ; * December 16, 1902 in Hamburg ; † September 22, 1983 ibid ) was a German lawyer and journalist .
Life
Born as the son of a professor and high school supervisor, Meyer attended high school in Hamburg-Wandsbek before studying law in Tübingen and Hamburg. During his studies in 1922 he became a member of the Tübingen fraternity Derendingia , to which his father had also belonged.
Meyer became a court trainee and court assessor . In 1928 he joined the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) (membership number 77.483) and the Sturmabteilung (SA) in Hamburg-Wandsbek. In 1934 he received the NSDAP's Golden Decoration . In 1936 he resigned from the NSDAP for non-political reasons, but was re-accepted in 1937. He was co-founder and leader of the Hamburg university group of the National Socialist German Student Union (NSDStB). He was the main speaker at the book burning in Hamburg. He served as a time volunteer in the early Reichswehr .
From 1932 to 1933 he worked as a political editor for the Hamburger Tageblatt . From 1933 to 1934 he was Councilor in Hamburg. He worked as editor of several newspapers, among other things as main editor of the Norddeutsche Rundschau and from 1934 as editor of the Burschenschaftliche Blätter . Meyer-Christian belonged to the Reich Association of the German Press (membership number 7860) and was a member of the Reich Press Chamber . He became head of the Reich Press School . One of his articles in the Burschenschaftliche Blätter, which was against the university policy of the NSDStB, resulted in a summons from the Gestapo , which resulted in a sharp warning. In 1940 he became a speaker and head of the Transocean-Euro-Press news agency in Berlin . From 1940 he was in military service in Russia and in the Balkan campaign . Meanwhile promoted to captain , he was wounded in a commando operation and was taken to a Soviet hospital, from which he was freed. After the end of the Second World War he worked as a lawyer in Hamburg.
