Wolff Christoph von Arnim

Wolff Christoph von Arnim (born July 19, 1607 in Lindow; † March 21, 1668 in Pretzsch ; also Wolff Christoff von Arnimb auff Zichau and Pretzsch ) was a chamberlain from the Electoral Saxony , a secretary and war councilor and lieutenant general . He was Amtshauptmann to Leipzig and Grimma , supreme commander of the fortresses Pleissenburg and Wittenberg .

Arnim came from the main line Zichow of the von Arnim family and through his sons became the progenitor of the so-called "Saxon Lines" Walda ( Johann Christian ; 1640–1695), Döben ( Christoph Julius ; 1643–1708), Planitz (Johann Georg; 1655– 1721) and Neusorge (Wolff Christoph II; 1660–1727). He owned Döben and was enfeoffed with Pretzsch in 1647 .

In 1645, Wolff Christoph von Arnim, as sergeant-general and colonel on foot, was one of the three Saxon signers of the Kötzschenbroda armistice certificate , which effectively ended the Thirty Years' War for the Saxon troops .

In the church of St. Nikolai in Pretzsch there is a for v. Arnim erected an oversized, magnificent epitaph made of sandstone and wood, which is often structured, provided with plastic figurative representations, inscriptions, etc.

There are also four smaller wooden epitaphs and a death shield of two sons and other family members of the v. Arnim.
