The Wolfgang Siegel Foundation is a support foundation based in Hof (Saale) . It was founded in 1986 by the German journalist and entrepreneur Wolfgang Siegel from Hof.

history

On May 28, 1986, the Hof entrepreneur and patron Wolfgang Siegel established the public foundation under civil law. The state approval was granted through the confirmation of June 9, 1986 by the Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture . The foundation is thus legally competent and is subject to the supervision of the government of Upper Franconia in Bayreuth .

In 1995, Siegel received the Johann Christian Reinhart plaque, a cultural award for his work in the city of Hof and the Upper Franconia region .

The founder was appointed to the first and sole board member for life. After his death on November 18, 2008, the board of directors consists of a committee of three people in accordance with § 7 of the foundation statutes:

who are represented in office by their respective deputy if they are prevented from doing so.

The appointment of the board means that the foundation is administered by the city administration of Hof. In 2006 Siegel transferred the commercial administration to the city administration. By resolution of the Foundation Committee on June 8, 2011, the Hospital Foundation Hof was given the management of foundation matters.

For the city of Hof, the value of this support foundation lies in its financial flexibility, especially for cultural support goals that could not be financed from the city budget.

Foundation purpose

On the basis of the statutes, the foundation serves to promote scientific purposes as well as education, popular and vocational training, in particular:

  • the promotion of north-east Upper Franconian historical research by supporting scientific work
  • the promotion of the Bavarian Vogtland Museum in Hof through grants for the purchase of exhibits,
  • the promotion of the local history knowledge of northeast Upper Franconian, especially Hofer pupils through the allocation of teaching materials for local history lessons.

The foundation's stock is permanently preserved, additional foundations are possible. Funding is granted at the discretion of your organs within the scope of the aforementioned purposes.
