Wolfgang André (born August 1948 in Marburg ) is a German cabaret artist , singer and television presenter. He is known for the fictional character "Caretaker Anton Klopotek".

André grew up in Herne from the age of seven after his parents moved . After graduating from school, he began training as a bricklayer and later retrained as an industrial clerk. Today he lives in the Bochum district of Wattenscheid . From the mid- 1970s , André appeared as a member of a group of cabaret artists on various small stages.

In 1987 André recorded his first record under the title Tagelang, Std . In the following years numerous other recordings were made. André also works as a composer and lyricist. He landed his greatest success so far together with Eberhard Hertel when he won the popular hit parade . For Marianne and Michael he wrote the title “ Heaven turns a blind eye” for the 2005 LP . In the mid-1990s , André successfully created the fictional character “Caretaker Anton Klopotek” from Wattenscheid . In the dialect of the Ruhr area , Klopotek tells hearty, harmless taunts from everyday life. André landed an unexpected success with the figure when the single Weisse was still ...? reached the German single charts in July 2005. The title In Wattenscheid da geht dat allet was a hit at the Wattenscheid Carnival in 2006. In December 2006, got Anton Klopotek for more Weisse his first gold record for the best Ruhr hits 2005/2006.

From 2002 to 2004 André moderated the weekly program do it yourself on the TV channel 9Live . Since 2005 he has devoted himself exclusively to the character "Anton Klopotek", with whom he has enjoyed great success to this day, not only in the Ruhr area. He was appointed "Ambassador of the Ruhr Area" by the WAZ.
