Wolfgang Därr (* 1948 in Bamberg ) is a German travel guide , author and tour operator who has written about island states in the Indian Ocean .

Life

Wolfgang Därr was born in Bamberg in 1948 and grew up in Munich . From 1958 to 1968 he went to the Maria Theresia Gymnasium in Munich- Giesing and from 1969 to 1974 studied law in Munich and Lausanne . After the first state examination, he did civil alternative service for two years at the German Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband in Munich. He then prepared for the second state examination in law, which he passed in 1978 , at the university and with the government of Upper Bavaria .

Until the mid-1990s Därr worked as an in-house counsel at Transit Film in Munich and the Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau Foundation in Wiesbaden, specializing in film copyright law . Därr's license to practice as a lawyer ended in February 2016.

In the late 1980s he was by the Government of Seychelles to the Honorary Consul appointed the Republic of Seychelles and held this activity to 15 April 2016 in Herrsching out.

Activities in tourism

Sale of travel equipment

After completing his law degree, Därr helped his sister-in-law Erika Därr and his brother Klaus to set up Därr Expeditionsservice GmbH . The range of products offered by the Heimstetten company offered extensive travel equipment. After the takeover by the Munich-based expedition supplier Lauche & Maas , Därr Expeditionsservice was retained as a brand of Lauche & Maas München GmbH and is managed as a branch in organizational terms.

Activity as a travel author and publisher

In the early 1980s, Därr wrote in magazines about his own trips and travel guides to tropical islands. He later wrote several travel guides to islands in the Indian Ocean as an author on behalf of DuMont Buchverlag , which were also translated into other languages.

Tour operator

In 1985 Därr and his wife Maisie, who was born in the Seychelles, founded the tour operator Trauminsel Reisen, Maisie und Wolfgang Därr GmbH. The main focus of the travel offer is the Indian Ocean , which has been expanded to include the Maldives , Sri Lanka , the holiday islands of Thailand and Indonesia as well as safaris in Southern Africa.
