Wolfgang Illmer

Wolfgang Illmer (born December 11, 1942 in Hanover ) is a German homeland - chronicler , non-fiction author , editor and publisher .

Life

Illmer grew up in Misburg , which at the time was still an independent town on the border with the state capital of Lower Saxony.

After the completion of Misburger junior high school in 1959 went through Illmer training as font , engineering and photo coasters to collect only later experiences in advertising.

In 1963 Wolfgang married Illmer. He and his wife had two daughters (* 1964 and 1966). Illmer did military service from 1964 and then worked first at the printing company H. Osterwald , then for the Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung .

In 1970, Wolfgang Illmer began editing his first publications in his spare time, which he initially printed in his own cellar. Together with Harri Pott, he edited Misburg Magazin from 1972 and set up as an independent publisher in 1973. In the same year he took over the weekly mirror , which had already been published by Bruno Braun in 1962 as a newsletter for the Misburg business people.

Just over a decade later acquired Illmer by Hans-Dietrich Bittkau 1985 Misburg-Anderter Zeitung (MAZ) and the newspaper week messenger who Illmer both in the in still family owned located weeks mirror integrated.

In the meantime, Illmer had also worked as an editor of scientific publications from 1981 , partly together with Wolfgang Wegener and Hans A. Nieper as a scientific advisory board.

Volunteering

Wolfgang Illmer became involved in the “Misburg District Festival” working group from 1984 until the annual celebrations were held at the same time as the Schützenfest from 1993 around “Meyer's Garden”.

From 1984 Illmer sat on the board of the association for trade and industry Misburg / Anderten (vgi), eleven years of which as chairman of the board . When he left in 2007, he was made honorary chairman .

From 1986, Illmer helped shape the cultural life of Misburg and Anderten on the board of the Misburg-Anderter cultural associations (AMK) for eight years. In 1987, for example, he organized the first joint ceremonial meeting of two carnival clubs .

In 1986 Wolfgang Illmer took over the presidency of "FC Stern Misburg" for seven years and was chairman of the Misburg volleyball club from 1987 to 1991, which in 1988 was promoted to the second division .

From 1990 to 1995 he was a member of the board of the advertising community “Shopping Center Heidering” and from 1996 to 2000 in the advertising community “Wir in Roderbruch”.

In 1995 he achieved 15,000 DM through raffles and fundraising , which he was able to present to Hanover's Lord Mayor Herbert Schmalstieg for the benefit of UNICEF .

In addition, Illmer brokered the building for the “Misburg school meeting place”.

After a cancer operation, Wolfgang Illmer founded the “Brotherhood of Mudzborgh” together with Juan Carlos Blanca Varela in 2009 and in 2012 published the first edition of the Misburg Chronicle .

honors and awards

In 1988 he was honored with the Munchhausen Order for his commitment to carnival and was appointed Master of the Order two years later.

For his commitment to the association for trade and industry Misburg / Anderten (vgi) and for the benefit of the local economy, he was honored in 2008 by the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) with the award of the Wilhelm Freckmann Prize .

Also in 2008, Wolfgang Illmer was honored for his many years of voluntary work "[...] in many areas of public life" from the then Lower Saxony Prime Minister Christian Wulff .
