Wolfgang Imo (* 1974 ) is a German specialist in German.

Life

From 1995 to 2002 he studied English , political science , history, German and pedagogy at the Universities of Konstanz and Bristol (degrees: 1st state examination in English, political science, history, German and pedagogy; master's degree in English and political science). From January to March 2002 he was a research associate on the DFG research project 8 (Aesthetic Phenomena) at the University of Konstanz . From April 2002 to December 2008 he was a research assistant at the University of Münster (Chair Susanne Günthner ). PhD studies . In 2004 he had a three-week teaching position (DaF) at the Ilia Tschavtschavadze State University for Language and Culture. After receiving his doctorate in 2006 on "Construction Grammar and Spoken Language Research" He was in January 2009 teacher in higher education service to the University of Muenster . In March 2010 he had a two-week teaching assignment at the National Mirzu Ulugbek University . In the winter semester 2010/2011 he represented the W2 professorship for German and Linguistics with a focus on syntax at the University of Duisburg - Essen . Since April 2011 he has been a member of the board of the Association for Conversation Research. On April 1, 2012 he became a W2 professor for German linguistics (focus on syntax) at the University of Duisburg-Essen . From 2013 to 2018 he headed a German institute partnership (together with Jörg Wesche ) with the Russian Far East (Khabarovsk, Vladivostok, Blagoveschensk). From October 2016 to September 2017 he taught as a W3 professor for German linguistics at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg . Since 2017 he has been running a Vladimir Admoni doctoral school (together with Ursula Hirschfeld ) with Voronesh and Vladivostok. Since October 2017 he has been full professor for German linguistics (focus on syntax and pragmatics) at the University of Hamburg .

His main research interests are conversation analysis, interactional linguistics, grammar theory, construction grammar, qualitative corpus linguistics, language and standardization processes, German as a foreign language and computer-mediated communication.
