Wolfgang König (musician)

Wolfgang König (* 1947 in Eslohe , Sauerland) is a German musician , conductor and musical - composer .

Life

Wolfgang König studied at the Academy of Music and Dance Cologne trays music education and trombone at Vinko Globokar . To the music, he graduated at the University of Cologne , a master's degree in musicology , German literature and sociology at the conclusion of the graduation to the Dr. phil. As a trombonist, König was a founding member of the trombone quintet Brass Art, which specializes in new music, and the ensemble Musica Fiata, which specializes in historical performance practice . He also played for a long time in the Berlin group Musikalische Compagney .

After teaching at the University of Music in Münster , König headed the Beckum - Warendorf Music School from 1979 to 2016 .

Together with his wife Veronika te Reh as a director, he performed the first music theater piece at his music school in 1983 with Henze's children's opera Pollicino . As a result, there were other musical theater pieces that König and te Reh wrote themselves. So far, a number of musicals have been created that have been performed and published both at the Beckum-Warendorf Music School and nationally. The works are documented in numerous television, radio, DVD and CD recordings. Veronika te Reh wrote all the libretti and does all the dramaturgical work with the children.

The works have been published by Carus-Verlag Stuttgart and Mombotz Music-Production in Beckum, self-published by Veronika te Reh and Wolfgang König.
