Wolfgang Leistenschneider

Wolfgang Leistenschneider (born September 28, 1943 in Traben-Trarbach , † April 24, 2016 in Berlin ) was a German urologist and university professor.

Life

Wolfgang Leistenschneider studied medicine at the University of Münster . After the state examination he became assistant to Hans Ulrich Zollinger at the Pathological Institute of the University of Basel in 1969 and received his doctorate magna cum laude in 1970 in Münster .

From 1973 he was a research assistant and assistant professor at the Urological University Clinic at the Westend Clinic in Berlin. From 1980 to 1983 he was the chief senior physician here. In 1981 he completed his habilitation at the Free University of Berlin . In 1983 he became professor of urology at the Free University and, after the reorganization of Berlin university medicine, taught at the Charité .

Since 1984 he worked as a resident urologist in Berlin-Charlottenburg , most recently together with his son Patrick.

Wolfgang Leistenschneider died in Berlin in April 2016 at the age of 72. The funeral service and burial took place on May 10, 2016 at the state-owned cemetery Heerstraße in Berlin-Westend .
