Wolfgang Reisinger (born December 25, 1964 in Vienna ) is an Austrian organist , church musician and composer .

Life

Wolfgang Reisinger received his first church music training at the Diocesan Conservatory for Church Music of the Archdiocese of Vienna , which he completed with the B diploma in 1983. He studied church music at the Vienna Academy of Music , and in organ Alfred Mitterhofer , in choral conducting Erwin Ortner , in liturgical organ playing peter planyavsky and music theory Erich Romanovsky were his teachers. In 1987 he passed his diploma examination with distinction.

He then worked as a cathedral organist in Strängnäs , Sweden , until he was appointed organist at the Bruckner organ at St. Florian Monastery in Upper Austria on November 1, 1987 . During this time he studied the organ, also with Alfred Mitterhofer at the Vienna University of Music, and obtained his concert diploma in 1993 with a Magister artium. In 1990 he moved to Vienna, as he was appointed church music consultant for the Vicariate of Vienna City , a position he held until he was appointed director of the Vienna Diocesan Conservatory in 2010. In 2003, after a two-year study visit to Kansas, he received his doctorate ; his second doctorate was awarded to him in 2008 after writing a dissertation on stylistic influences on the organ work of Maurice Duruflé at the University of Vienna .

Reisinger has given concerts as an organist in Austria, Germany , Slovakia , Poland , Sweden, the USA and Russia . As a choirmaster, he mainly appeared with his Kantoreisingers choir , which existed from 1990 to 2002. With this he also undertook several international tours to Finland , Sweden, Denmark and Italy . In 1998 he made his first CD recording with romantic choir and organ music.

Wolfgang Reisinger began teaching in 1988 at the State Music School in Steyr , where he taught organ and piano , and in 1990 he took up his position at the Diocesan Conservatory for Church Music of the Archdiocese of Vienna, where he studied the subjects of organ, improvisation, liturgical organ playing, German liturgical singing, theory of forms, and liturgy and score playing taught or teaches. In addition, he has been teaching at the Schottenbastei secondary school in Vienna's Inner City district since 1991 . As part of various courses, he is also involved in basic church music work with regard to the training of cantors , organists and choirmasters . In 2004 and 2006 he also worked as a visiting professor for organ at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna .

As a composer Reisinger devotes himself above all to vocal music in the context of church music.
