Wolfgang Rose (* 19th August 1947 in Bremen ) is a German politician of the SPD . He was a member of the Hamburg Parliament and regional district leader of the ver.di trade union in Hamburg.

Life and work

After graduating from secondary school, Wolfgang Rose completed an apprenticeship as a banker at Hamburger Sparkasse from 1967 to 1970 and worked there for a few months. Rose then studied social pedagogy from 1970 to 1973 at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences in the Rauhen Haus . From 1973 to 1982 he worked as a youth education officer for the Protestant youth in the Stormarn youth pastoral office. Among other things, he accompanied various projects in youth work with so-called marginalized young people. In 1982 he became union secretary at the union of public services, transport and traffic (ÖTV) in Hamburg. Rose was responsible for the churches and social policy areas. In 1987 he was elected deputy district manager and in 1999 district manager of what was then ÖTV. After the founding of the United Service Union, he was elected regional district manager of ver.di Hamburg. In this function, Rose was a member of the supervisory boards of Hapag-Lloyd, HHLA, Asklepios Kliniken Hamburg and HGV. He is married with two daughters and four grandchildren. On May 31, 2012, Rose resigned from the ver.di trade union after 11 years for reasons of age.

In addition to his trade union and party political involvement, Wolfgang Rose is a member of the AWO , the Evangelical Lutheran Church , the Ernst-Deutsch-Theater Freundeskreis and on its supervisory board, the Freundeskreis Pflegeheim Oberaltenallee, the ASB , the Hamburg Asylum Working Group, the Friends of the Museum of the Work , the Hamburg donation parliament , the support group Evangelische Stiftung Alsterdorf , the association Cafée mit Herz e. V. He is also chairman of the “Culture in the Trade Union House e. V. “as well as member of the board of directors of AOK Rheinland / Hamburg.

Rose joined the SPD in 1971 and was then an active member of the Young Socialists ( Jusos ) in the Hamburg district of Barmbek-Uhlenhorst-Hohenfelde. In the 1970s he was a member of the SPD district committee for Hamburg-North . Because of his union functions, he did not take on any party functions for many years. In 2007 he was elected a member of the SPD state executive. In February 2008 he was elected to the Hamburg parliament via the state list on the proposal of the Hamburg DGB executive committee. In the two following citizenship elections, he was re-elected and re-elected by the SPD at the suggestion of the social democratic union chairmen in Hamburg. Rose was the “coordinator for trade union contacts” in the SPD parliamentary group, was a member of the parliamentary group's executive committee and was a member of the labor & social, economic and cultural committees. He did not run again for the 2020 general election.
