Wolfgang Sünkel

Wolfgang Sünkel (born January 22, 1934 in Detmold ; † March 29, 2011 in Erlangen ) was a German educationalist who taught at the University of Erlangen . Sünkel was an important pedagogical researcher and was particularly keen to develop strict theories.

life and work

Wolfgang Sünkel was the son of Wilhelm Sünkel , a teacher who published widely read collections of poetry for high school use ( Der goldene Nachen , Der Dom ). After graduating from high school in 1954, Sünkel studied philosophy, education, German and Protestant theology, first in Marburg , then in Basel and in Münster . His academic teachers included Julius Ebbinghaus , Karl Jaspers , Walter Muschg , Joachim Ritter and Wilhelm Flitner . Sünkel completed his studies at the University of Münster with the first state examination for teaching at secondary schools. He then did his doctorate under the pedagogue Ernst Lichtenstein with a thesis on Friedrich Schleiermacher's theory of Waldorf Education (1962). In 1970 he completed his habilitation , still at the University of Münster . From the summer semester 1971 to 2002, Sünkel held a chair for pedagogy at the University of Erlangen.
