Wolfgang Schlueter (born November 12, 1937 in Reher near Hameln) is a German prehistoric expert and specialist in Roman provincial archeology .

Schlüter studied prehistory and early history , ethnology and German legal history at the University of Göttingen , where he received his doctorate in 1973 with Herbert Jankuhn on the Pipinsburg in Osterode am Harz . From 1973 to 1975 he worked for the Department of Soil Monument Preservation of the Lower Saxony State Administration Office in Hanover. From 1975 he headed the city and district archaeologist in Osnabrück. From 1989 to 1998 he was the scientific director of the archaeological research project Archaeological research into evidence of late August military operations in the Kalkriese bottleneck near Bramsche, district of Osnabrück . Wolfgang Schlüter has been honorary professor at the University of Osnabrück since 1993 .
