Wolfgang Wilhelm Mickel (born April 6, 1929 in Offenbach am Main ; † December 9, 2005 in Bad Homburg in front of the height ) was a German political scientist .

Life

Wolfgang Mickel studied political science at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . From 1972 to 1994 Wolfgang Mickel was professor of political science and its didactics at the Karlsruhe University of Education . His main research areas were European integration and education policy as well as methodology and didactics of political education. Wolfgang Mickel has written over 500 scientific publications.

He put his research into practice in various association activities. Wolfgang Mickel was involved in the Association Européenne des Enseignants (EBB-AEDE) in Brussels , the European Federation for Education and Science. He was the longstanding vice-president and federal chairman of the German section from 1970 to 1994 and a member of the board until his death. Wolfgang Mickel was also a board member of the German Council of the European Movement and educational policy advisor to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg .

Wolfgang Mickel was an active local politician for the CDU in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe . He was a member of the city parliament from 1969 to 2001.

In 1979 Wolfgang Mickel was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon , followed in 1991 by the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class . In 1980 he received the letter of honor from the State of Hesse for his longstanding local political activities .
