Wolfgang Zöhrer

Wolfgang Zöhrer (* January 1944 in Oberwart ; † July 9, 2013 in Aigen im Mühlkreis ) was an Austrian art teacher , painter and graphic artist .

Live and act

After graduating from the teacher training college, Zöhrer studied printmaking with Maximilian Melcher at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from 1968 to 1973 . His artistic work included, in particular, a visit to the International Summer Academy for Fine Arts Salzburg in 1972 with Werner Otte and a lithography course with Alfred Billy at Sigharting Castle .

In addition to his professional activity as a high school teacher for art education and handicrafts in a farm that was acquired and renovated in 1972, he ran a printing workshop for etching , lithography and letterpress printing in the village of Unterneudorf in Schlägl . Mühlviertel art gallery

Zöhrer's work lives on in the art gallery he initiated and built together with Angela Berger and an association at the roundabout around the Aigen-Schlägl bypass . The art gallery opened on March 8, 2013. The exhibition concept focuses on lithography, etching and linocut exhibits . The association also has a collection of paper antiques that are intended to complement the exhibitions. In addition to Zöhrer's works, the artists of the Zülow Group (formerly Mühlviertler Künstlergilde) and artists of the Scheer Gallery from Vienna are to be offered a platform for the presentation of modern art.
