Wolfram Hoyer

Wolfram Hoyer OP (born June 9, 1969 in Augsburg as Christian Hoyer ; † July 30, 2020 on the A8 between Augsburg and Munich) was a Roman Catholic religious , theologian and religious historian.

Life

Hoyer grew up in Großaitingen in the Augsburg district. He joined the religious order of the Dominicans in, put on 28 September 1991 became professed and received after his theological training on 16 June 1995 in Vienna, the Dominican church ordination . Hoyer studied Catholic theology at the University of Vienna from 1991 to 1994 . He completed a history course at the Institute for Austrian Historical Research in 1998 with the state examination. In 2000 he received his doctorate in church history under Karl-Heinz Frankl at the theological faculty of the University of Vienna. In 2017 he received his doctorate with Meta Niederkorn at the historical and cultural studies faculty of the University of Vienna with a dissertation “Dominican book standards”.

For the Vienna Dominican Convention he was in charge of the extensive library and the order archive of the convent and the province. In addition, he worked in Vienna as procurator, promoter for public relations, promoter for beatifications and canonizations as well as rector of the Church of St. Ursula at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna .

For over 14 years he was a pastor at the Maria Motorway Church, protecting travelers in Adelsried . Most recently he was prior of the Augsburg Dominican Convent at the Holy Cross .

Act

He was a visiting professor of church history at the Dominican Institute of Philosophy and Theology of the Province of St.. Joseph the Worker in Ibadan ( Nigeria ). At the historical institute of the Dominicans in Rome , the "Istituto Storico Domenicano" he worked as a lecturer.

Wolfram Hoyer researched and published on the history of the Dominican Order, in particular on the Province of St. Albertus Magnus in southern Germany and Austria. His dissertation on "Dominican Book Standards" dealt extensively with the laws and norms of the Dominican Order from the 13th century to the present. Hoyer published numerous papers and essays.

He worked as a historian for the Geschwister-Zabel-Stiftung.
