Wolfram Setz (born July 7, 1941 in Stralsund ) is a German historian , editor, translator and essayist .

After studying in Cologne and Tübingen and completing his doctorate, Setz worked on Lorenzo Valla's writing against the Donation of Constantine at the Monumenta Germaniae Historica in Munich . He has lived in Hamburg since 2004 .

Setz has been the editor of the rosa Winkel library since 1991 (initially with Verlag Rosa Winkel , since 2001 with Männerschwarm Verlag ), in which more than 70 volumes were published by 2018. The library rosa Winkel collects literary and historically relevant texts on the history of emancipation of homosexuals in Europe. Setz supported the rediscovery of the gay pioneer Karl Heinrich Ulrichs (1825–1895) with several publications.

Setz was editor of the book series Homosexualität und Literatur in Verlag rosa Winkel (12 volumes, 1981–1999) and co-editor of the scientific journal Forum Homosexualität und Literatur (1987–2007). Among other things, he was involved in gay politics as a founding member (1986) and for several years as a board member of the Federal Association for Homosexuality (until its dissolution in 1997).
