Woltwiesche is a district of the municipality of Lengede in the Peine district in Lower Saxony .
geography
Woltwiesche is located in the transition area between the foothills of the northern Harz foreland and the North German lowlands , on the left side of the Fuhse river .
The village is on the L 619 state road between Braunschweig and Hildesheim , and between the district town of Peine and the city of Salzgitter , north of the Hildesheim – Braunschweig railway line .
history
Woltwiesche was first mentioned in a document in 1022 in a list of properties of the St. Michaelis monastery in Hildesheim . In 1910 Woltwiesche had 588 inhabitants.
On July 1, 1972, Woltwiesche was spun off from the Wolfenbüttel district as part of the regional reform in Lower Saxony and merged with the previously independent communities of Barbecke , Broistedt , Klein Lafferde and Lengede to form the newly created community of Lengede in the Peine district.
