history
Klein Lafferde was first mentioned in a document in 1022 in an inventory of the St. Michaelis monastery in Hildesheim . In 1807, the village was incorporated into the canton of Lafferde of the Kingdom of Westphalia created by Napoleon . After its dissolution in 1813, the place belonged to the Kingdom of Hanover and from 1866 to the Province of Hanover of the Kingdom of Prussia . The Prussian administration incorporated Klein Lafferde into the newly created district of Peine on April 1, 1885.
On July 1, 1972, Klein Lafferde, as part of the regional reform in Lower Saxony , was combined with the until then independent communities of Barbecke , Broistedt , Lengede and Woltwiesche to form the newly created community of Lengede.
Evangelical Lutheran Church
The tower of the Klein Lafferder Church is one of the oldest structures in the village. In 1974 there was a lightning strike, as a result of which the roof of the tower was renovated and the weather vane replaced, which now contains the dates 1819 and 1974.

coat of arms
The coat of arms is divided by a silver sloping bar in wave form. This stands for the feet, which is also shown in other coats of arms of the district of Peine, so z. B. in the coats of arms of Lahstedt and Vöhrum . The linden leaf with the fruits refers to the old linden tree planted around 1850 in the village. The sun wheel with the six spokes is a traditional symbol of rural folk art, it can often be found on the beams of old farmhouses. The colors gold-red remind us that the place belonged to the prince-bishopric of Hildesheim for centuries . The coat of arms was adopted on April 18, 1957 by the municipal council.
Site appearance and development
The place originally laid out as a cluster village was an agricultural village until the 20th century. Although the village image has largely retained its rural character, agriculture is now of little importance in the employment structure. Today, many residents of the town are employed in the nearby industries in the Salzgitter / Peine area or in the regional center of Braunschweig .
