World Championship of Custom Bike Building
The World Championship of Custom Bike Building (dt .: World Cup in custom bike building ) is an annual competition in Sturgis in the United States , the magazine's American Motorcycle Dealer is organized (AMD).
The main event takes place at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally , which with around half a million visitors is the largest motorcycle event in the world alongside Daytona Beach Bike Week .
German participation
- 2005
Habermann-Performance ( Langenau , Baden-Württemberg ) became European champion with the Bike Caligo in 2005. At the subsequent World Cup, it was voted 17th.
- 2006
Thunderbike ( Hamminkeln ) was able to achieve second place in the main freestyle class at the 2006 World Championships with the Bike Spectacula . At the previous European Championship, it took first place.
- 2008
Thunderbike was again European champion with the Open Mind and fifth in the freestyle class at the subsequent World Championship. TGS Motorcycles finished third this year with the Seppster 2 Ice Racer .
- 2009
TGS Motocycles ( Witzmannsberg ) was able to achieve ninth place in the world championship. Thunderbike became European champion in the "modified Harley " class with Build a Billy , a motorcycle built live at the custom bike fair in Bad Salzuflen .
- 2012
Thunderbike (Andreas Bergerforth) became world champion in the freestyle class with the PainTTless . Uwe Ehinger came second in the "Modified Harley" class.
Classes
- Freestyle (World Championship) - The Freestyle class accepts all motorcycles with every imaginable modification. The winner of this class becomes the official world champion .
- Modified Harley-Davidson - The frame and engine must be from the manufacturer Harley-Davidson. Anything is allowed for other modifications and designs .
- Production Manufacturer - This class includes motorcycles from small series of at least 50 pieces / year.
- Metric World Championship - Foreign motorcycles compete in the Metric class .
qualification
Manufacturers of custom bikes can qualify by winning one of 13 annual events (e.g. Cologne Custom Championship at Intermot , Cologne) all over the world. European champions are automatically qualified for the world championship and receive reimbursement of travel expenses as prize money , so that smaller manufacturers also have a chance to participate.

- Llunatica Benicassim - Benicàssim , Spain
- Mad Builders Custom Show - Jocotepec, Mexico
- Moscow Custom & Tuning Show - Moscow , Russia
- Moto Clube Faro Bike Show - Faro, Portugal
- Motor Bike Expo Verona , Italy
- Swedish Custom Bike Show - Norrtälje , Sweden
- Viva La Clusaz! - La Clusaz , France
