The Nairobi City Stars (NCS) are a Kenyan football club from Kawangware in Nairobi that has played in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL), the first division of Kenya, since 2005 . The club plays its home games at the Hope Center .
history
The club was founded as the Kawangware Slum Football Club . In the 2000 season Kawangware FC played in the Central Zone Mini League and from 2001 in the National Super League , the newly established second division of Kenya. 2002 rose to the KPL. Because of the higher financial outlay in the KPL, the association was taken over by World Hope International Kenya . In 2003, however, they were relegated as the penultimate in the league. In 2004 the club was renamed World Hope FC and rose again.
The second attempt in the top division was more successful. The club finished the 2005 season in seventh place and won the President's Cup . Thus World Hope FC qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup 2006, in which he was eliminated in the preliminary round against the Ugandan club Uganda Revenue Authority SC . The club remained in the league midfield for the next few years and was taken over by AIS Kenya (Ambassadors in Sport) during the 2008 season on October 16 ; the reason was difficulties in paying salaries. Former international Musa Otieno , who previously played for the Cleveland City Stars, became vice-president and after the December season the club was renamed Nairobi City Stars . The club became a sister club of the Cleveland City Stars , for which Otieno played shortly before. In 2009 they achieved the best result of the season so far with sixth place in the KPL.
In 2010 the association was sold for 4.5 million K. Sh. to Danish investors in the room, but those responsible for the City Stars resigned shortly before the event was finalized. The investors then took over the AC Nakuru (now Nakuru AllStars) in the second division.
In the following years, the club was only to be found in the lower third of the table. This was also the case in 2013, when the NCS finished the season in 14th place, three points ahead of a relegation place. Jan Koops , who came to the club as interim coach in September, did not renew his contract after the last game of the season and in January 2014 Nigerian Robinson Ndubuisi Ofwoku was signed as his successor with a one-year contract.
