World Philharmonic Orchestra
The World Philharmonic Orchestra (WPO) is an international symphony orchestra based in Geneva .
It was founded in Stockholm in 1985 by Marc Verriere and Françoise Legrand . Patrons are the United Nations , Nobel Foundation and UNICEF . Once a year over 100 soloists from 80 countries play. Leading orchestras in the world such as the Concertgebouw Orchestra , Berlin Philharmonic , Vienna Philharmonic , London Symphony Orchestra and Chicago Symphony Orchestra send musicians. The soloists are selected by their orchestras and can only take part in the WPO once.
The orchestra won the Grand Prix du Disque at the Charles Cros Academy in Paris.
