World of Subways is a series of subway simulators from TML Studios . Four parts called "Volumes" have been published. Each volume (German volume or part) has a route with its own vehicles in a different city. Volume 1, with around 22.21 km of passable tracks, is the shortest route in contrast to the other three parts. Volume 1, 2 and 4 were also published in Germany under the title U-Bahn Simulator , while Part 3 was titled as London Underground Simulator .

World of Subways Volume 1: The PATH

Volume 1 was published on September 20, 2008 and takes place in the state of New York in America on the PATH (Port Authority Trans-Hudson) system. Km with a total length of 22.2 (13.8 mi) and 13 stations, it connects the downtown area in the district of Manhattan in New York City and a few cities in the state of New Jersey . The vehicles available are the repaired types PA-2 from the St. Louis Car Company and PA-3 from Hawker-Siddeley as well as the unrepaired type PA-4 from Kawasaki Heavy Industries .

An expansion pack (add-on) with five new missions and additional options has also been released.

World of Subways Volume 2: U7 - Berlin

The second part was published in February 2009. Volume 2 takes place in the network of the Berlin U-Bahn on U-Bahn line 7 . The U7 line is one of the 6 large profile lines in Berlin and, with 31.8 km (19.8 mi) and 40 stations between the Berlin-Spandau underground station and the Rudow underground station, the longest underground line in Berlin. Volume 2 is the only part where the whole route is underground. The vehicles available are the type of F-90 of the BVG Series F and type H01 BVG Series H .

World of Subways Volume 3: London Underground Circle Line

The third part in the series was published by Aerosoft and Excalibur Publishing on May 25, 2011. It is the first part based on the Vision Engine . Volume 3 now brings the player to the English capital, London . The player here drives the Circle Line of the London Underground . The Circle Line is a pure ring line and is 27 km (16.8 mi) long, has 35 stations with the takeover of the branch to Hammersmith and is one of the shortest subways after the Waterloo & City Line with a length of only 2.4 km the London Underground. The Circle Line runs in two directions: Inner Rail (counterclockwise, Edgware Road - Hammersmith) and Outer Rail (clockwise, Hammersmith - Edgware Road).

In contrast to the other two parts, the player has the option to move around in the third-person view and explore the train stations, but the driver's cab remains in the first-person view. As with the other parts, there is no outside view and the player can also board other trains on the Circle Line. The District Line and the Hammersmith & City Line are simulated in the game, but you cannot enter these lines. The only available vehicle type is the London Underground C69 Stock . The London Underground D78 stick is included in the game but cannot be driven by the player. The C-Stock was replaced by the London Underground S Stock between January 2013 and June 2014 . The D-floor was replaced by the S-floor between 2015 and 2017.

World of Subways Volume 4: New York Line 7

Volume 4 was planned to be Paris as the actual location , but there were problems with the government, so the release date had to be postponed. TML later announced that Part 4 would play on Line 7 in New York City . The game was finally released on April 2, 2015 and is set in the 1970s / 1980s, when the so-called Redbirds of the R33WF and R36WF series were still in operation. Line 7 runs from Flushing in Queens , under the East River through to Times Square in the beating heart of New York. The 15 km of line 7 with its 21 stations are mostly above ground.
