The Vyborgsky rajon ( Russian Выборгский район ) is a raion in the northwestern part of Leningrad Oblast . The administrative center is the city of Vyborg .

The 7,351 km² large Rajon lies on the Karelian Isthmus . It is criss-crossed by numerous lakes and has a coast on the Gulf of Finland .

history

The Rajon was founded in 1940 when the originally Finnish area of Finland came to the Soviet Union due to the peace of Moscow .
