Wysoka [vɨˈsɔka] ( German Waissak ; 1936-1945: Lindau ; Polish Wysoka ) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Branice in the powiat Głubczycki (Leobschütz) in the Opole Voivodeship in southwest Poland near the Czech border. It is located about 4 km southeast of Branice , 20 km south of Głubczyce and 72 km south of the regional capital Opole .
history
Historically, the city is located on the so-called Polish Moravia , i.e. in the area of the former Diocese of Olomouc . The village is a very old village with a rich history. In the written records it was first mentioned in 1267 - Wiztogh; in 1377 - Wissock; and 1451 - Wisoka. In 1480 the first owner was mentioned by Jan Havranowski. After the Silesian Wars it was located within the boundaries of Prussia and the Głubczyce Powiat. Until 1780 it remained part of the parish of Neplachovice, which remained in the Habsburg monarchy , and then the parish in Branice . The own church was built in 1896 and in 1922 an independent congregation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was founded. Originally the place was inhabited by the Moravians , over time more and more residents were German-speaking. In 1910 only 9% of the population used the Czech forest dialects . Between 1975 and 1998 the village was administratively part of the Opole Voivodeship .
