The day will come is a TV movie from the crime series Polizeiruf 110 . The report produced by Norddeutscher Rundfunk is the 386th episode of Police Call 110 and the 22nd case of Rostock investigators Bukow and König . The first broadcast took place on June 14, 2020 in the first .
action
During her jogging round on the Warnow bank, Katrin König tries to protect a woman from two men. She is knocked unconscious by the molesters. A little later, the woman was found seriously injured near the bank and died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The young woman's death shakes König and the investigation initially focuses on the two attackers from the Warnow bank. While Bukow and his assistant Volker Thiesler track down the two petty criminals, König investigates the dead in private. The former competitive athlete was divorced, her three-year-old son lives with his father and his new partner. The contact was apparently harmonious, she visited the child weekly and regularly brought him children's books. However, the woman was torn inside: on the one hand a notorious loner, on the other hand she had evidently never overcome the separation. König finds out that the dead woman had taken out life insurance in favor of her son, which she had taken from her ex-husband shortly before her death. Since the policy ruled out suicide, she faked the robbery and inflicted the fatal injuries on herself, on the one hand to divorce her and on the other hand not to completely abandon her son. The former javelin thrower , already seriously injured, threw the knife into the Warnow from where she was later found.
During the investigation, König is under severe psychological stress after the convicted murderer Guido Wachs, whom she put behind bars with falsified evidence in the episode For Janina , contacted her. She has bad sleep disorders, she treats a skin rash with a cortisone cream , and against her restlessness she swallows capsules of an antihypertensive agent . Burdened by the conflict of conscience , King visits wax in prison. He tries to put König under massive pressure: either she will help wax get back in touch with his ex-wife, or he will accuse her of her offense. While König slips further and further into a psychotic state, Wachs continues his manipulations from prison. To do this, he uses a hidden cell phone with which he maintains contact with a former inmate who, disguised as a helpful caretaker, bugged King's apartment, spied on her and manipulated her medication and ointments.
Bukow's criminal father is meanwhile involved in drug deals with his former pupil, the underworld boss Tito. At a meeting with his son, he refuses chemotherapy for his cancer. On the same day he was shot dead in front of the eyes of Inspector Pöschel, who was watching him and wanted to warn him at the last moment, when he was about to hand over money on the Wustrow peninsula. Since Pöschel can shoot the perpetrator himself, it turns out that he is identical to King's caretaker and also acted here on behalf of wax. The angry Bukow then seeks wax in prison and makes it clear to him how poor his machinations and his smug demeanor are. He even manages to get Mrs. Wachs to show her ex-husband how unbearable life at his side has been for her.
At the end of the film, König comforts Bukow, who is desperate over the loss of his father. The two kiss deeply.

Reviews
“Nonetheless, Peter Trabner is the secret star of the film: How he embodies the apparently omnipotent string puller wax both as a repentant sinner and as a narcissist is great drama. “The day will come” is not only an exceptionally good crime thriller, the film also marks something of an end in the long story between Bukow and König. Basically, the relationship can hardly be improved; if the NDR would announce that this would be the last case for the duo from Rostock, the broadcaster would have found the perfect time to exit. "
“The NDR episodes with the investigators König and Alexander Bukow [...] are ultimately showpiece when it comes to horizontal storytelling. […] Of course, it is a high goal to keep this horizontal storytelling within the Sunday evening format, the audience must be able to understand all developments, so it is nothing to look at. But König and Bukow have fans who are always there and watch as the two commissioners take care that the other one doesn't crash completely. "
"Emotional crime thriller, which is a bit protracted at the beginning and trumps with two real blasts towards the end: Bukow's father is sneakily murdered and - perhaps only because of this - the Rostock investigators finally come close."
“King before the collapse, Bukow in berserk mode: the crime thriller, which seems to be heading for a complete crash, is elegantly resolved at the end. Respect."
