action

A 16-year-old runaway is found murdered in Rostock, shortly afterwards the body of a Danish tourist who was murdered according to the same pattern. The chief inspectors Bukow and König come across murders with a similar pattern dating back 15 years and which have never been solved. The investigation focuses on two suspects: the moving entrepreneur Frank Kern, who was previously investigated, and the long-term student Hansen, who knew the young victim and met him shortly before her death. After Hansen is accused by his mentally unstable wife and she even admits complicity through a false confession, the Hansens are arrested. Meanwhile, Kern's daughter Marla discovers evidence in his home that confirms her suspicions that her father is the serial killer. Kern persuades her to feel guilty and complicit, so Marla keeps her discovery to herself and makes a suicide attempt. Based on the perpetrator's vehicle, Kern is still identified as the perpetrator. Bukow sets off with his assistants to arrest Kern, while King Marla wants to visit her mother. There she discovers Marla's farewell letter. Bukow discovers Marla bleeding to death in Frank Kern's house and can barely save her.

Reviews

This section consists only of a cunning collection of quotes from movie reviews. Instead, a summary of the reception of the film should be provided as continuous text, which can also include striking quotations, see also the explanations in the film format .

"This cinematic aesthetically special, heavily played" police call "with its haunting scenes and parallel montages is a film made of one piece: A magical cinematic flow results from a dense, clever and complex story."

“Although the film, which shows the anatomy of a television crime novel, has something metafictional about it, the result is not cerebral. This is due on the one hand to the direct, sometimes dirty staging, on the other hand to the fantastic ensemble, which also works perfectly together beyond the street-smart, morally integrity, this time somewhat softer-hearted bull Bukow and his nervous colleague König. […] One has the impression that Lukacevic intentionally used well-hung motifs to show what can be made of them. The intensity is high over the entire route, but towards the end the turbine is turned on again, because as soon as everything criminological has been stripped off, the action increases into hopelessly tragic. "

“The 'police call' is played well, has entertaining dialogues - and yet it soon evokes a feeling of being under-challenged. Because although it is pretended that two main suspects are placed side by side with equal rights, the solution is obvious from an early stage. "

“Damir Lukačević (direction and script) has composed a Whodunit that functions as a detective piece, the philosophy of togetherness hovers over the plot as an enriching leading idea. A completely different film than the sometimes strenuous experimental crime scenes, instead a more classic story, in which a lot is true. The plot, the staff […]. And Lukačević wrote down the best dialogues for investigators Katrin König […] and Alexander Bukow […], with two ingredients, of course, lacony and love. "
