Uta Schmidt (* 1965 in Marburg ) is a German film editor .

life and work

Uta Schmidt began her career in 1987 as an assistant editor for various feature films, including Homo Faber (1991, director: Volker Schlöndorff ), and Justice (1993, director: Hans W. Geißendörfer ). Since 1994 she has been working as a freelance editor, both in the cinema and in television.

For their assembly efficiency at the feature film Four Minutes by director Chris Kraus was Uta Schmidt in 2007 with the German Camera Award honored (Category: Best Editing feature film), and was responsible for the German Film Award nomination. In 2008 she won the German Camera Prize in the category of best TV film editing for the TV thriller Bella Block: Reise nach China .

In addition to her work as an editor, Uta Schmidt teaches at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb) . She is a member of the Federal Association of Film Editing Editor eV (BFS) and of the German Film Academy , where she was active on the board of directors from 2009 to 2013 as a representative of the Music / Editing / Sound Design section.
