María Sólrún Sigurðardóttir

María Sólrún Sigurðardóttir (born August 1, 1965 in Reykjavík ; often as Maria Solrun ) is an Icelandic director and screenwriter . Her feature film debut, the film drama Jargo , was shown at the 2004 Berlinale . Her film drama about the deaf Adam was released in 2018 .

Life

Sólrún has lived in Berlin since 1986, where she studied film studies , art history and political science at the Free University of Berlin . This was followed by studies at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin . At the end of her studies, she presented the script for the film drama Jargo , which she directed herself with Constantin von Jascheroff in the title role, Oktay Özdemir , Udo Kier and Nora von Waldstätten . The film was made as a co-production with WDR , Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg and X Films and was shown at the 2004 Berlinale in what was then the Children's Film Festival / 14plus.

Your film Adam celebrated its world premiere in the Generation 14plus section at the 2018 Berlinale . Solrun has worked as a screenwriter for various film production companies such as Sony Pictures , Studio Hamburg and Boje Buck Produktion. Since 2009 she has been working as a scriptwriter for the German television film series Liebe am Fjord , mostly in collaboration with Jörg Tensing . Since 2006 she has also been a contact person at the Icelandic Film Center as a consultant for fictional film and TV material.
