Between the Worlds is a German detective film by René Heisig from 2013. It is the 337th episode in the film series Polizeiruf 110 and the eighth case for Chief Inspector Alexander Bukow ( Charly Hübner ) and the LKA officer Katrin König ( Anneke Kim Sarnau ) . The main guest stars of this episode are Fanny Staffa , Philipp Hauß , Alice Dwyer , Aurel Manthei , Winnie Böwe as well as Andreas Schröders and André Szymanski .

The murder of a law student puzzles Bukow and König . There is no real motive, which makes the search for the perpetrator even more difficult.

action

Chief Inspector Alexander Bukow is actually on vacation and is on a fishing trip with his two boys. On the way home through the forest, a little girl runs in front of the inspector's car. Disturbed, the child brings Bukow to his mother, who is lying dead next to her bicycle in the forest. After he has notified his colleagues and the identity of the dead has been clarified, Bukow takes care of the child and brings him to his father.

Bukow and his colleague Katrin König do not rule out that six-year-old Franzi saw the killer, but the child does not speak. Analysis of Julia Wenning's laptop reveals that the law student wanted to move to Hamburg. There were also regular incoming payments that did not come from the law firm where she worked. When the investigators investigate, it turns out that Julia Wenning worked as a prostitute with her friend Lisa Schöning and had an apartment in Rostock for it. Since Julia extorted her suitors afterwards, Lisa is sure that her lecturer, Professor Meiners, killed Julia. She wants to convict him on her own, but she does not succeed.

The main suspect for Bukow is Stefan Wenning, the victim's husband. He denies having done anything to his wife, although he had every reason to, because she wanted to leave him after all. After Wenning's daughter finally starts talking again, the neighbor, Frank Freese, is incriminated. Based on the evidence against him, he admits that he had a relationship with Julia. He would have loved her and wanted to start a new life with her. But she did not want what had led to an argument between them in the forest. After he gave her a nudge, she fell on a stone.

Since Bukow takes his work very seriously, his wife Vivian feels more and more neglected. She secretly meets with Bukow's colleague Volker Thiesler. After Bukow again failed to stick to the agreements made despite his vacation and left the children alone, Vivian first moved out of the common house with her two sons.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv judged cautiously: “The film lacks the consistent physical breath, the rough realism of its predecessors. Sensuality is verbally asserted - the summer heat alone testifies to a fan. The crime thriller is downright unoriginal, the dramaturgy is a long, thin thread. The strong duo Sarnau / König and Hübner / Bukow have to compensate for a lot. It succeeds - but with some drawbacks. "

At Spiegel Online Christian Buß finds : “The Grungerock faction of the German TV crime thriller: In Rostock's 'Polizeiruf' people drink, rock and occasionally screw up a case. Not so bad, Bukow and his colleagues are so strong characters that you can endure a bad episode. "

Heike Hupertz from the FAZ assessed: “Those who know the 'police call' have suspected it: New pairings are forming in Rostock's investigative circles. And the new murder case is also about faded family happiness. [...] If, after seven cases of the unconventional Rostock duo, each of which were just as unusual, one would get involved in this 'police call' with the genre-typical double-life jealousy stories, one would have can actually deliver more or more precisely.
