Michaela Caspar (born April 6, 1960 in Weil am Rhein ) is a German actress , performer and director .

Life

From the age of seven, Michaela Caspar grew up with her mother Maria-Luise and her stepfather Joachim Werner Preuss in Berlin . She spent the first seven years of her life in her grandparents' house in Stetten in southern Baden, a few meters from the Swiss border. At the age of seventeen she passed her high school diploma at the Catholic girls' high school Sankt-Ursula-Schule and first studied photography at the Lette-Verein Berlin. Together with Ulrich Sauerwein and Trolly Trojahn, she founded the multi-media collective AvF Berlin. In the early 1980s, she conceived and realized multimedia shows and worked as a photo journalist .

In the mid-1980s she began a second training as a singer and actress, initially singing in jazz clubs, cabarets and learning method acting from the legendary Jack Garfein (LA), among others . After passing the stage entrance examination, she played at various city and state theaters: Stadttheater Regensburg (1989–92), State Theaters Salzburg (1990), Kleist Theater Frankfurt (Oder) (1992–94), State Theater Cottbus (1993), Berliner Kammerspiele, Hebbeltheater Berlin, Schlossparktheater Berlin (2000). She also sang contemporary operas (including the leading role in a world premiere with the ensemble of the Komische Oper Berlin ).

In the 1990s she began working with Till Nikolaus von Heiseler , as well as with Rosa von Praunheim , Helmut Oehring and Conrado del Rosario (composer). About a dozen works were created, some of which were also produced by her. In 1994 their twins Anton and Emilia were born. Since the late 90s she has worked as an actress in various films, radio plays and television productions. Michaela Caspar is co-founder of the NEW METHODIKER eV association (2002) and founder of the Possible World eV association (2008).

She suffered a sudden hearing loss while rehearsing a musical theater piece. In 2008 she founded a theater group with deaf and hearing people and developed the play “Spring Awake!” Based on Frank Wedekind (premiere: 2009 Ballhaus Ost). The Bavarian Television filmed a 30 minute documentation and Arte reported on the project in the series Yourope. The play was invited to the European and International Deaf Theater Festival by ARBOS - Society for Music and Theater in Vienna (Austria) and nominated for the 2010 Theatertreffen der Jugend. In 2012 there was another play for the deaf “Medea! The truth! ”By Till Nikolaus von Heiseler (Ballhaus Ost). In 2013 she worked as an actress with Wes Anderson for his new film 'The Grand Budapest', 2014.
