Philipp Hauss

Philipp Hauß (* 1980 in Münster ) is a German actor and director . He has been a member of the Vienna Burgtheater ensemble since 2002 .

Life

Hauß studied acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna and was an assistant director to Christoph Schlingensief during his studies . He has been a member of the Burgtheater ensemble since 2002 and has worked with directors Luc Bondy , Andrea Breth , Alvis Hermanis , Stephan Kimmig , Roland Schimmelpfennig , Peter Stein , Nicolas Stemann and Peter Zadek , among others . He also made guest appearances at the Bavarian State Theater in Munich, at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin and at the Salzburg Festival . Several productions in which he participated have been invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen . As a longstanding member of the ensemble, Hauß is the ensemble speaker at the Burgtheater.

Philipp Hauß has also been working as a director since 2006. With students of the Max Reinhardt Seminar he developed Bambiland by Elfriede Jelinek , in the casino on Schwarzenbergplatz of the Burgtheater he staged Die Legenden von Afrika 2 fishes , in Garage X Theater Petersplatz Survival of a Salesman - A Consultation and The Sacrifice . His first directorial work at the Landestheater Niederösterreich in the 2012/13 season, Mamma Medea by Tom Lanoye , was nominated for a Nestroy Theater Prize in the category Best Federal State Performance .

Hauß is also active in cultural studies and writes for the Theater der Zeit, among others. He studied philosophy and cultural studies at the University of Vienna and is doing his doctorate under Claus Pias on the media and cultural history of the wellness movement.
