Yadkinville is a place in the state of North Carolina in the United States of America and is located in Yadkin County in the Piedmont Triad . In 2000 Yadkinville had 2,818 inhabitants, making it the county's largest city; at the same time it is its administrative seat.

history

The area of ​​the city was selected as the county seat when Yadkin County was established in 1850. Initially, the place was named Wilson, in honor of Louis D. Wilson, a legislator who died in the Mexican-American War. The name was changed to Yadkinville when it was discovered that another place already bore the same name (see Wilson ). At the time the administrative headquarters were being built, there was only one house in the village. The official entry took place in 1857.

Yadkinville is known in the region for its "Autumn Festival" and its "Grape Festival", which takes place in honor of the surrounding vineyards of the Yadkin Valley ( Yadkin Valley AVA ), as well as the other regional wine-growing areas.
