Yadkin County is a county in the state of North Carolina in the United States . The county seat is Yadkinville .

The county is located in northwest North Carolina, about 35 km north of Virginia and covers an area of ​​874 square kilometers, of which 5 square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Surry County , Forsyth County , Davie County , Iredell County, and Wilkes County .

Yadkin County is divided into 12 townships : Boonville, Deep Creek, East Bend, Forbush, North Buck Shoals, North Fall Creek, North Knobs, North Liberty, South Buck Shoals, South Fall Creek, South Knobs, and South Liberty.

history

Yadkin County was formed from parts of Surry County in 1850. It was named after the Yadkin River , just like the district capital Yadkinville .

The Davis Brothers Store (2009) is one of eight entries for the county on the National Register of Historic Places .

According to the 2000 census , Yadkin County had 36,348 people in 14,505 households and 10,588 families. The population density was 42 inhabitants per square kilometer.
