Davie County is a county in the state of North Carolina in the United States . The county seat is Mocksville . which was named after the Mock family who donated the land to the city.

The county is located in west-central North Carolina, about 50 miles north of Virginia , and covers an area of 691 square kilometers, of which 4 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Yadkin County , Forsyth County , Davidson County , Rowan County, and Iredell Counties .
Davie County is divided into seven townships : Calahaln, Clarksville, Farmington, Fulton, Jerusalem, Mocksville, and Shady Grove.

Davie County was formed in 1836 from parts of Rowan County. It was named after the Governor William R. Davie .
There are two National Historic Landmarks in the county, Cooleemee Manor and Hinton Rowan Helper House . A total of 20 buildings and sites in the county are registered in the National Register of Historic Places (as of February 26, 2018).

As of the 2000 census , Davie County had 34,835 people in 13,750 households and 10,257 families. The population density was 51 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 90.44 percent white, 6.80 percent African American, 0.23 percent Native American, 0.31 percent Asian, 0.02 percent from the Pacific island area and 1.31 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.89 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 3.47 percent of the population.
Of the 13,750 households, 32.7 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them. 61.4 percent of these were married couples living together, 9.2 percent were single mothers and 25.4 percent were non-families. 22.2 percent were single households and 9.7 percent had people 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 2.91 people.
24.3 percent of the population were under 18 years old. 7.1 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 29.4 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, 25.5 percent between 45 and 64, and 13.8 percent were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For all females there were 97.0 males. For all women aged 18 years or over, there were 94.0 men.
The median income for a household in the city is $ 40,174, and the median income for a family is $ 47,699. Males had a median income of $ 33,179 versus $ 24,632 for females. The per capita income was $ 21,359. 8.6 percent of the population and 6.4 percent of families are below the poverty line. 10.2 percent of them are children and young people under 18 years of age and 11.3 percent are 65 years of age or older.
