Yael Grobglas ( Hebrew יעל גרובגלס; Born May 31, 1984 in Paris , France ) is an Israeli actress and former model .

life and career

Yael Grobglas was born to French and Austrian parents. When she was three years old, the family moved from France to Israel . There she lived in Ra'anana . Grobglas learned various dances and was a member of a dance group. This was followed by a short career as a model with the modeling agency Elite and Grobglas was featured in various fashion shows and advertising campaigns. When she discovered her passion for acting, she took acting classes.

After minor roles, she got the lead role as Gini in the science fiction television series Ha'yi in 2007 . The series made Grobglas popular in Israel overnight. She was seen in a total of 65 episodes until 2009. She then enrolled for full-time studies at the Yoram Loewenstein Performing Arts Studio. She was also featured in a few commercials.

In 2013 she received her first role in the United States . Grobglas was cast in the lead role of America Singer in The CW pilot film The Selection . The potential television series was based on the novel by Kiera Cass of the same name . However, The CW announced in May of the same year that the pilot would not receive a series order. A short time later she got the supporting role of Olivia D'Amencourt in the drama series Reign . From October 2014 to 2019 she embodied Petra Solano in the dramedy Jane the Virgin, also produced by The CW .

In 2015 she starred in the horror film JeruZalem with Yon Tumarkin . In addition to this, she was already in front of the camera in the television series Ha'yi and Split .
