Yon Tumarkin ( Hebrew יוןתומרקין; * July 22, 1989 in Jaffa , Israel ) is an Israeli actor .

childhood and education

Tumarkin was born in Jaffa in 1989. His father is the award-winning Israeli artist Igael Tumarkin . His grandfather is the German actor and director Martin Hellberg . Tumarkin lived with his parents in Jaffa until he was 13. Then his parents divorced and Tumarkin moved to Tel Aviv with his mother Naama Tumarkin . There he attended the Ironi Alef School of Arts with a focus on cinema, which he successfully completed.

Career

Even as a child, Tumarkin appeared in various commercials. He shot the first commercial for Agfa . Tumarkin had his first role in a movie (Shisha Million Rasisim) at the age of 12. This was followed by the leading role of Ido Klein in the television series Napoleon Hills Kids .

On August 18, 2008, he joined the Israeli army. During this time he took a break from acting.

Tumarkin became internationally known for his portrayal of the vampire Leo in the Israeli television series Split . This television series has been sold to more than 60 different countries. From 2009 to 2012, Turmarkin was voted best actor of the year four times in a row by viewers of the children's channel.

In 2011, Yon Tumarkin was finally released from the Israeli army.

In 2012 Tumarkin got the lead role in the award-winning film Rock the Casbah . In Germany, the film was shown in 2013 at the Berlin International Film Festival and in some cinemas. Yon Tumarkin has played a leading role in the television series The Nerd Club since 2014. In 2015 he was seen together with Yael Grobglas in the horror film JeruZalem . In 2018 he played graphic designer Reuben in an episode of the British crime series McMafia .

In German, Yon Tumarkin is spoken by Louis Friedemann Thiele .

Private life

During the filming of Split, Yon Tumarkin met his future girlfriend Amit Farkash . Since the cast also embodied the main couple in the series, this relationship was very present in the media. However, the couple separated in 2012. After that, Yon Tumarkin had a relationship with model Alexa Tamari for two years. The couple split in 2014.
