Yao Chen ( Chinese  姚 晨 , Pinyin Yáo Chén ; born October 5, 1979 in Shishi , Quanzhou , Fujian Province , People's Republic of China ) is a Chinese actress . She is the person with the most fans on the Sina Weibo social network . In August 2014, the number of their fans was 71 million. In 2014 Time magazine named Yao Chen to its "100 global celebrities" list. In 2014, Forbes listed her at number 83 of the "Most powerful woman in the world".

biography

Yao Chen comes from a middle class family. From 1993 to 1997 she studied Chinese folk dance at the Beijing Dance Academy . From 1999 to 2003 she studied at the Beijing Film Academy .

Her first role was as a daughter in the television production My Own Swordsman . In 2008 she played a guerrilla leader in the television series Undercover . She had her first stage appearance in 2009 in A Story of Lala's Promotion . She then appeared as Mango in Feng Xiaogang 's If You Are the One 2 in 2010 , appeared in Chen Yili's Color Me Love that same year and played in Shang Jing's My Own Swordsman in 2011 . In 2010 she won the Golden Eagle Award for Best Actress.

In 2004 she married the actor Ling Xiao Su . The marriage was divorced in January 2011. In 2011, Yao Chen visited the Mae La refugee camp in northern Thailand as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees . As a result of her humanitarian commitment, the number of followers of her microblogging rose sharply. When she left Mae La, she said that hopefully she could spend some time with refugees each year. On November 17, 2012, Yao Chen married cameraman Cao Yu in Queenstown, New Zealand .

She has been a professing Christian since she was 25 . When Southern Weekend magazine protested government censorship , Chen openly campaigned for the magazine.
