Yasmin Warsame

Yasmin Abshir Warsame (born May 5, 1976 in Mogadishu , Somalia ) is a Somali- Canadian supermodel .

Life

At the age of fifteen, she moved to Toronto , where she studied psychology and social sciences at Seneca College . Warsame began her modeling career in 2000 when she was booked for a photoshoot destined for the Sears catalog, five months pregnant with her son . At the time, she had already worked as a model for two years, but her appearance had been perceived as too haute couture for the Canadian market . In 2002 she went to Paris , where she was photographed by Steven Meisel for the Italian edition of Vogue .

She is under contract with Next Model Management and IMG Models . Photos with her appeared in Elle , Vogue Italia and Amica and she ran in numerous fashion shows, including for Giorgio Armani , Christian Dior , Fendi , Jean-Paul Gaultier , Gucci , Kenzō Takada , Karl Lagerfeld and Valentino . She was a star in high-value advertising campaigns by Valentino, H & M , Dolce & Gabbana , Escada , Hermes , Shiseido and Chanel .

Warsame was also recently a jury member for the second season of Canada's Next Top Model .
