Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah is the second EP by the British folk punk band The Pogues . It reached number 43 in the UK and number 17 in the US charts.

history

The EP was released in three different versions: in the UK as a 7 "single, which included" The Limerick Rake "in addition to the title track, and as a 12" EP which included the additional songs "Honky Tonk Women" (a Rolling Stones - Cover ) and a remix of "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah". The latter song was also included in the box set "Just Look Them Straight in the Eye and Say ... POGUE MAHONE!" included.

In the USA, the original 12 "EP was released on CD, on which the songs" Jack's Heroes "and" Whiskey in the Jar " recorded together with the Dubliners replaced the remix of the title track and" The Limerick Rake ".

"Jack's Heroes" was released as a single in 1990 and was also included in the re-release of Hell's Ditch album together with "Whiskey in the Jar" . "The Limerick Rake", "Honky Tonk Women" and "Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah" were included on the Peace and Love re-release .

The music video for "Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah" is based on an episode of the music show Top of the Pops from the 1960s and shows the innocence of the early 60s to the psychedelic culture of the late 60s.

Music genre

It is difficult to determine a uniform style of music, there are songs from Motown and rock as well as, as usual for the Pogues , songs influenced by Irish folk . The country of publication is also decisive for the music style, as the US version contained more folk than the British version.

Allmusic Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Stephen Thomas Erlewine wrote in his review for the Allmusic Guide:

"" Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah "was one of The Pogues finest moments (...). The EP is one of the group's most rock-oriented efforts (...), but it's not entirely successful, with the noticeable exception of the title track. "

"" Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah "was one of the Pogues' best moments (...). The EP is one of the band's most rock-oriented endeavors (...), but it's not entirely convincing, with one notable exception of the title track. "
