Yesera Norte is a town in the Tarija Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Yesera Norte is the largest town in the Yesera canton in the municipality of Tarija in the province of Cercado . The village is located on the right, western bank of the Río Yesera, which flows downstream into the Río Santa Ana, a tributary of the Río Nuevo Guadalquivir .

geography

Yesera Norte is conveniently located between the different climate zones of the country on the edge of the Andes , so that the region usually has mild and pleasant weather (see Tarija climate diagram). In the rainy season between December and February (summer months) there are frequent torrential thunderstorms. The rest of the year is extremely low in precipitation.

The landscape has been eroded by the centuries of clearing and the region around Tarija is framed by bare mountain ranges. The area around Tarija used to be Bolivia's grain chamber. Today, in addition to agriculture, the region is rich in natural gas .
