Yoshiaki Masuo

Yoshiaki Masuo ( Japanese 増 尾 好 秋 , Masuo Yoshiaki , born October 12, 1946 in Nakano , Tokyo ) is a Japanese fusion and jazz guitarist .

Yoshiaki Masuo worked from the late 1960s a. a. with Terumasa Hino , Nobuo Hara and Sadao Watanabe , with whom he made his first recordings in 1968 ( Sadao & Charlie ). In 1969 he recorded his debut album Winds of Barcelona for CBS / SONY . a. Hideo Miyata , Nobuhiro Suzuki , Kazuo Yashiro , Kiyoshi Sugimoto, Yoshio "Chin" Suzuki and Fumio Watanabe were involved.

In the following years he played a. a. with Takehiro Honda , Jean Luc Ponty / Masahiko Satoh , Masabumi Kikuchi , Richie Beirach , during stays in New York with Elvin Jones , Sonny Rollins , Mike Nock , Monty Waters , Chuck Loeb and Bob Mover , 1978 in the band Manhattan Blaze (with Eddie Henderson , John Stubblefield , Joe Chambers , Hilton Ruiz , Alex Blake , Idris Muhammad , Ray Mantilla ).

Furthermore, he played a number of albums under his own name in Japan and the United States until 1996, on which guest musicians such as Russel Blake , Randy Brecker , Ron Carter , Bob Cranshaw , Kenny Drew junior , Steve Gadd , Eric Gale , Larry Goldings , Gil Goldstein , Dave Grusin , Jan Hammer , Kenny Kirkland , Will Lee and Grady Tate participated. In the field of jazz he was involved in 48 recording sessions between 1968 and 2009. Until 2008 he ran a recording studio in New York.
