You're the Worst is an American comedy series that was originally broadcast on FX Network in 2014 and is now running on sister station FXX. The focus is on Jimmy and Gretchen , two self-centered people who fall in love with each other.
In November 2017, the series was extended by a final fifth season, which is scheduled to air in 2019.
action
After Jimmy, an unsuccessful writer , was kicked out of his ex-girlfriend's wedding for negative comments, he meets Gretchen, a PR manager who stole a wedding present, at the door . Although both actually only want a one-night stand , they meet more often in the following weeks. However, both of them have no idea how to have a successful relationship as they mostly just focus on themselves.

The channel FX ordered the pilot episode for the series on July 17, 2013. In January 2014, the broadcaster ordered nine additional episodes about the pilot. At the end of September 2014, the series was extended by a second season, which will consist of 13 episodes. However, this is broadcast on the sister station FXX . In December 2015, the series was extended for a third season. The production of a fourth season was announced in September 2016. In November 2017, the fifth and final season was announced, which will air in 2019.

The first season of the series was rated on Metacritic with a Metascore of 65/100 based on 20 reviews.
Axel Schmitt from Serienjunkies.de said about the series that “The pilot episode of the new FX comedy You're the Worst [...] could have been terrible according to the premise. But it is not. Even though not all jokes are ignited, the series creator Stephen Falk gives his characters enough humanity to be able to find them sympathetic. ”He also writes that“ the pilot episode of “You're The Worst” would have only enjoyed what bad people they are both protagonists are, the concept would have failed mercilessly. However, since the author and series creator Stephen Falk allows his characters to have real, deeply human emotions, the figure drawing works. The problem is more the jokes that hardly ignite. This is partly due to the poor script. ”According to Schmitt,“ the performance […] is largely convincing, the technical implementation is quite acceptable. Los Angeles is captured quite neatly in a short montage, the choice of music made me nod in places. The sex scenes are also more explicit than I have seen in any other cable format. More reasons to switch on: Jimmy's buddies Edgar and Killian. There is slight interest after the start. "
