Yuan Shun

Yuan Shun ( Chinese  袁 顺 , * 1961 in Shanghai ) is a Chinese artist . He works in the fields of photography , installations , video art and performance .

life and work

Yuan Shun was born in Shanghai in 1961. He had his first exhibition in Osaka as early as 1973 . From 1979 to 1983, Yuan Shun studied traditional Chinese painting at the Fine Art College of the People's Liberation Army in Beijing. There he also received military training. Yuan Shun lived in Poland from 1991 to 1994 and moved to Berlin in 1994. Yuan has lived in Beijing since 2005. He works in a studio near the 798 art area, at times together with the German artist Jutta Bobbe , who lives in Berlin .

Yuan Shun mainly deals with the subjects of landscape, city and architecture. He photographs traces of human interference and surreal elements or incorporates them into video installations.
