The yucca schidigera , which grows solitary or with several trunks, reaches a height of 3.5 meters. The stiff, smooth, yellow to green, fibrous 0.5 to 1.4 meter long leaves are arranged variably.

The upright, branched, dense inflorescence that begins between the leaves is 1 to 1.2 meters long. The spherical flowers are hermaphroditic and threefold. The six equal multiform bloom are white to off-white, sometimes the outer violet; they are 3 to 4.5 cm long and wide. The flowering period extends from March to May.

Yucca schidigera is a member of the Yucca section , Treculianae series . She is close to Yucca torreyi . However, unlike it, it has more numerous and shorter stems.

When it is dry, Yucca schidigera is frost hardy down to –15 ° C. Specimens can be admired in private gardens in New Mexico, in Albuquerque (Dave Ferguson) and Belen (Horst Künzler).
