The Yutmaru Sar is located in Pakistan in the autonomous region of Gilgit-Baltistan , the former Northern Areas .

At 7,330  m, the mountain is considered the 77th highest mountain in the world. He is part of the Hispar Muztagh in the Karakoram . Yutmaru Sar is located west of Kanjut Sar and south of Yukshin Gardan Sar . Its southwestern neighbor is the Pumari Chhish .

The northeastern Yutmaru (or Jutmo) glacier begins under the south face of Yutmaru Sar and flows south to the Hispar glacier . On the west side of Yutmaru Sar and Yushkin Gardan Sar lies the nutrient area of ​​the upper Yazghil glacier . Yushkin Gardan Sar, Yutmaru Sar and Kanjut Sar (from west to east) form a semicircle open to the north, from which the Yukshin-Gardan glacier flows to the Shimshal valley .

Ascent history

The first ascent of Yutmaru Sar was achieved in 1980 by a five-man Japanese expedition. Expedition members Masahiro Motegi, Tadao Sugimoto and Yu Watanabe reached the summit on July 22nd. The ascent route led from Nagar and the Yutmaru Glacier, over a saddle on the west ridge to the north ridge and on to the summit.
